October - Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!!!  Trades of Hope has a lovely necklace (that I can't wait to get my hands on!!!) just for the month (while supplies last)!

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness and in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Trades of Hope is contributing a percentage of the sales of this necklace to support Bras for the Cause in the United States. This group is striving to provide mammograms to the under insured and to increase women’s health and wellness education. A tri-pink color combination, these strands bring a reminder of fighting the good fight. This piece falls on the neck wonderfully, and can be hung symmetrical or a little off-center for a unique look. Created by women artisans in New Delhi, India, these ladies are receiving a vital, fair income. The group they are working for helps to provide banking, and both design and management skills. These skills are then enabling the women to provide for their families and have dignity in their villages!

Made in India - small pink glass beads.
Approx. Measurements: Adjustable - max 21.75 in.

Trades of Hope Giveaway!!!

As a mom of three young boys there isn’t anything that could make my heart heavier than not being able to provide for my little guys.

Unfortunately, there are many moms in extreme poverty all around the world that aren’t able to. Some moms are left with the choice of giving their children away, selling them to try and earn money, or stay together and starve. Being part of sex slavery, sweat shops, or raising kids with disabilities alone. For example, Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world with a 42% unemployment rate. Every year, approximately 10,000 girls from the ages of 9 to 16 are stolen, sold, or forced into brothels.

I am blessed to be part of a business called Trades of Hope. Trades of Hope offers these women a chance. With the help of Cooperatives, Organizations and Missionaries, women are getting out of sex slavery and supporting their families! They are given a chance to not only survive, but live a life filled with meaning and hope. They are able to work and make lovely items that are being sold, at their asking price, in the United States. They are able to provide food for their families, shelter, schooling, and medical care. Things that I have taken for granted many times.

Being a full time mom and being a Compassion Entrepreneur for Trades of Hope and work as I choose is amazing! I love helping my family and helping a mom across the world at the same time! What other careers give you that option?

I would love to offer a Giveaway of one Nepali Aqua Scarf to one lucky winner!

Styleboards

Don't forget to shop for your mama!  If she is anything like me, she would love one of these special items!!!

Teachers!

May 7th is Teacher Appreciation Day.  Carson's teacher left right before spring break for maternity leave, so the T.A. that was assisting became the teacher for the rest of the year.  29 Kindergartners.  With boys.  And girls of course too!  Amazing what they do, and that the kids are learning and the teacher's are not just avoiding certain situations.  :)  Oh wait, maybe that is just what happens at my house. ;)

I really wanted to get Tia (teacher on leave) something nice since she taught most of the year, and b/c she has really worked and talked with us about different ideas for Carson.  But, I also didn't want to leave out the other two teachers who are now taking care of all the little guys.  So, I decided to make some Trades of Hope purchases!  I hope they love where the gifts have come from and that mamas have made these special items.

So, whether it is a nice card from the child and family, a craft from home, or something from a store, show some love to the teacher's who are spending so much time with our kids!

Pick and Choose

I love "to do" lists in the sense of being able to see what needs to be done, doing the task, and crossing it off the list.  I do not like lists that aren't finished in a day so that you have to pack the list around to make sure you remember everything you need to.  However, with life, kids, marriage and everything in between there just isn't enough time in the day to really get everything I would like to done!

I have recently realized that with the lists, you have to pick what really needs to get done on that day.  Some of my things I had to choose today were, getting Finn a bath, watch a library movie that is due tomorrow (which I started and didn't finish), pick up Carson from school, get everyone food throughout the day as needed.

Tomorrow's list includes, riding bikes to school, having my mom trim my hair, and working on some Trades of Hope things.

My dear friend, Leah, who has been in Romania the last 7 years doing Missionary work is home visiting for the month of April!  This was taken after Andrew, her English bf, the boys and Leah played some American football.  1st time for Andrew!  4.11.13

Finn looking all Ashland-y with Gabe's hat.  4.10.13

Gabe, Grandma and Finn at Carson's 1st {freezing!} soccer game.  4.13.13

Carson playing Spring Soccer!

The pictures below were taken in March.  Carson had a cut down birch tree trunk land on his foot.  It was too heavy and he couldn't get his foot out so Gabe pushed it off of him and came and got me.  Carson couldn't walk so they came up with the idea of Carson getting in the back of their dump truck and Gabe would push him to the couch so he could hope up on it.

Gabe was so concerned for Carson.  Saying "I'm so sorry Carson.  I love you Carson."  And offering a lot of hugs.  And of course, "I love you" in sign language.

I am thankful for the special moments with my sweet boys.  They are very active wild boys, but I love 'em and am so blessed to be raising them.

Enjoy your family.  Things change.  They grow.  Hold on to the special moments.

Some News!

Hello Friends!

Trades of Hope is a company that has been working with women around the world to get out of awful situations.  Instead of being in the slums, sweat shops, sex trade and extreme poverty they are given an opportunity to make jewelry, scarves, and home décor to support them and their families.  With marketing their products through Compassion Entrepreneurs (CE) via home and online parties, these women can put food on their table, a roof over their head, get medical care and an education for their children.

In November I went to a friends Trades of Hope party.  In December I hosted my own party, and have been talking about how much I love the products and the idea of purchasing items that are lovely and hand made by women who need help.  No matter your location, with purchasing these items you are helping women take care of themselves and their families in places like India, Haiti, Uganda, Bangladesh, Guatemala, The Philippines, Cambodia, Peru, Pakistan, Nepal and even the U.S.A.  It is a magnificent outreach, being able to use and wear these handmade specialties, while supplying 3 to 6 times more income to the families in these far off locations.

This week, I decided to join the team!   I am  looking forward to helping support these women who are able to bring HOPE to their situations and meeting new people along the way!  My Trades of Hope site is  www.mytradesofhope.com/simonecoster

Please let me know when you would like to host a party!
