A Family Day

At the last night of AWANA, a leader had gotten some grab bags from the Crater Rock Museum in Central Point.  She gave us a flier and told us that the second Saturday of every month, it's kids day.

We found out that kids day includes making a shark tooth necklace, a little slide show about Dinosaurs and then you get to check out the museum.  We had never been there before, and I had never heard of it!

We went this morning, made the necklaces and checked out the rest of the museum.  And the boys picked out their grab bags which are only $1!

After the Rock Museum we went to lunch at Sonic.  We did the drive up and enjoyed their yummy food, an ice cream cone and a sundae.  Carson and Gabe enjoyed getting their bites of Trev's sundae.

Next months kid's day has a little more activity planned, it sounds.  We might check that day out too!

Our car is getting worked on, so we borrowed Mimi and Grandpa's car, which has a radio!  Gabe enjoyed having the music...

Hope you are enjoying your weekend!

AWANA

We love AWANA! The boys look forward to it every week. And to hear Carson sing"The Fruit of the Spirit" is just the greatest blessing, ever! We love it! The hard work that all of the teachers put into the class every week is so appreciated!

Here is a picture of Gabe from a craft he did last week.

Church now, Appreciated Later

For about the last month or so, I have been going to Ashland Christian Fellowship for worship on Wednesday nights. On a side note, there are some people who prepare dinner for anyone who wants to eat before the Wednesday night 6:30 service. I gotta say thanks to them, because they are blessing us with the ease of getting to church earlier, and getting dinner in our bellies! And I don't know about you, but I love it when food is prepared for me and my fam! :)

While the boys and I were looking for Grandma, a gal that knows me from growing up in church said, "you look so happy! And you are doing such a great job. And in about 20 years, there will be two gals that are very thankful for what you are doing." (Meaning, getting my family and I out the door will not only benefit us now, but benefit two gals that Carson and Gabe will meet one day). That really blessed me. Things like that aren't often voiced, or spoken about.

I know we (or maybe I should just speak for myself) can get really carried away with things in our daily lives. Laundry, dishes, projects, work, exercise, the list can go on and on. Some days just trying to get through the day seems like a miracle in and of it's self. To think about what I am teaching my boys now, and how it will affect their whole life and the gal's that they end up marrying is a bit on the huge side! But, it is something that I rarely think about. So, thank you for the reminder (*gal that I saw while I was growing up at ACF, whose name I should know*) that all this hard work, of getting the boys to church on Sundays, and to AWANA and to Wed. night worship, is going to pay off and be meaningful, not only now, but a ways down the road as well.

I pray you and your family are healthy, well and happy! Enjoy your autumn, Christmas will be here in less than 2 months!

Aloha.

Puggle and Cubbie

On 10.2.11 we headed to AWANA for the first evening celebration. Gabe is now a Puggle and Carson is in his last year of being a Cubbie! We had a great BBQ, and lots of jump time on the big dragon jump house! The boys had an absolute blast!!!

I love this AWANA program and all of the staff. I know they are so busy with their own families, kids, school, work and yet they still take time out of their week to work with my kids. It is greatly appreciated!

I was Reminded Again!!!

I write this with an attitude of appreciation, thankfulness and awe at how awesome the Lord is!

I feel like more often than not, I am not very good at appreciating what I have been given and being thankful for what I have.

Why do I struggle with with that so much? Why can't I be thankful every second of every day?! WHY? :)

A light bulb went off in my head today when I was thinking about some family and friends who are going through some very tough things right now. I know things can be hard for me at times, but I think there are always people going through harder things than my current situation.

I have a friend who on Facebook has what she calls "Thankful Thursdays." She posts something that she is thankful for that day, and asks others what they are thankful for. I usually read over what people say, but lately I haven't wanted to participate or really think about and truly be thankful for something in my life. It is what you could call a bad attitude. ;) I am sure no one else has ever experienced that, huh???

But really, with all that said, we do need to be thankful. I need to be thankful!

The Lord is so great and so full of compassion and patience! How amazing it is for me to realize these things and know that my Lord still loves me, cares for me, directs me and guides me even though I make silly decisions about not being thankful for what I have been given.

Things I am thankful for right now...just to show a few, in no particular order...

David (of David & Goliath)

Last night (11.9.11) at AWANA, it was Bible character night. Carson's favorite story in the Bible is David & Goliath, so of course we had ourselves a little David running around. Trever made him a sling shot (we with held the rocks) to have for the night. As I already said, he loves this story and to have the sling shot was a blast (until it got taken away this morning for whippin' things) for the night.

How is every one's new year going? As fast as mine???

Aloha!

THANK YOU AWANA team!

At the end of February, Trever and Carson brought home a piece of paper from AWANA with a 20 bill. Trever didn't really know what it was for, so I called Illis (the head leader) the next day to clarify. She said that they have drawings of the kiddlings names and Carson got picked for his age group. Usually (with the older kids) they get to chose a leader to go to lunch with, but for his age group, they give us money and let us have a date us our little guy. Pretty cool, if you ask me!

Carson with his 1st kids meal (& toy)

Trever wanted to hit Burger King for dinner, so we had our date "in." And we ate too much (of things we usually don't get)!

Thanks ILLIS and TEAM for all the hard work you put in working with the kids! Carson is having a great time!

Aloha.
